Create/document your business systems – Before selling your business, you need to do a complete “brain dump” of all the tribal knowledge and special tricks that makes the business tick. Without this, the buyer will not have confidence in his/her ability to take over and run the business successfully.

Vendors, customers, past purchases, pricing, manufacturing processes, inventory management are all examples of processes that need to be well documented for the buyer to be able to effectively run the business. Well documented business systems will also increase the attractiveness and value to the buyer.
